Our First Mississippi PowerShell User Group Test Meeting

Rohn and I had a test meeting of the Mississippi PowerShell User Group last night which was a huge success as far as testing out the capabilities of using Microsoft Lync via Office 365. We used the voice over IP capabilities along with testing out sharing one another’s screen. We also tested out having Rohn take over the controls on one of my test machines that I shared the desktop of. Rohn took that opportunity to school me on using enumeration in PowerShell. Very cool stuff. It was so cool that this test meeting went on for a couple of hours and the meeting was as good as, if not better than any other virtual user group meeting that I’ve attended.

During our meeting, Rohn used the .NET Framework Classes interactively in the PowerShell Console the way that I use PowerShell cmdlets, needless to say I was very impressed. I can definitely see why Rohn won the advanced competition of the Scripting Games last year. He really knows his stuff and I’m lucky to have him as the co-founder of this user group.

We have a couple more test meetings scheduled before our first official meeting on Tuesday, March 12th at 8:30pm CST. We’re looking for more members and as a member, you’ll be able to join in on these test meetings.
