For the February 2018 Mississippi PowerShell User Group virtual meeting, Josh Duffney will be presenting “Application Provisioning with DSC and Octopus Deploy” on Tuesday, February 27th at 8:30pm central time.
We all know that point-click administration doesn’t scale, but even automation has its limitations. Automation is great, but if you’re creating automation that only you can execute, update, and maintain you will eventually become a bottleneck. What if you could write automation that enabled your customer to take over the execution and updates? Learn how a DevOps team created a solution that gave developers control and ownership of their IIS provisioning for web applications. This talk demonstrates how to use an open source PowerShell module InvokeDSC with Octopus Deploy to create such a solution.
Josh Duffney is a DevOps Engineer who works with automation and orchestration on Windows platforms. Josh is an author of several Pluralsight courses. Including Introduction to Regular Expression and Debugging PowerShell in VS Code. Josh blogs at duffney.io. Josh also speaks a various PowerShell, DevOps user groups and conferences.
